Mentorship Program
This STELLAR route is focused on addressing an educator’s identified professional learning goals in mathematics education through dedicated time and engagement with a mentor. It has a specified operational budget*, requires a minimum of 10 hours each contact time, (i.e., 10 hours for the mentor and 10 hours for the mentee) and takes place within a defined period of time.
Sample STELLAR mentorships may include, but are not limited to:
a. observing a teacher colleague with their students during a particular class or unit of study, and reciprocating;
b. observing a teacher colleague (as mentor) with your students during a particular class, and reciprocating;
c. mentor and mentee co-planning a specific topic or concept or,
d. one-on-one professional learning on an identified area.
Note: STELLAR funding may not be used solely for
- the purchase of classroom supplies, manipulatives, or technology;
- prep time to prepare centre work, class materials, etc.
* Budget may include: Materials/Resources up to a maximum of $500; Travel costs up to a maximum of $500. Up to a maximum of 4 days of leave may be provided. All monetary values stated are in Canadian dollars. Please do not make STELLAR-funded purchases through a school account. Reimbursements can only be made directly to individual educators, not to school accounts.
