Use this Tool to:

explore how the seven determinants and other elements are interconnected.

Pre-Meeting Prep:

  • Split into groups of 3-4 people.
  • Each group gets a set of 20 hexagons (create your own or download here)
  • Provide a large surface for arranging the hexagons
Suggested Timing:

   30 minutes

Steps:

1. In groups, connect hexagons based on their relationships. Discuss within the group why each hexagon is connected to its neighbors.  Use prompts like "Which determinants influence each other the most?", "How do changes in one determinant affect the others?",  and "What are the critical connections for effective school development?". Ensure each touching side represents a meaningful connection.

2. Have groups do a gallery walk and visit other groups' hexagonal arrangements. Note interesting patterns, unique connections, and thought-provoking questions.

3. In a large group discussion or in small groups, consolidate with a discussion around the similarities and differences observed in each hexagonal arrangement. Explore how school development is interconnected with everything we do in our schools, emphasizing that it is not an additional task but integral to our daily practices.
